Wild Animal Attack!

Friday Morning Nina and Nikk went out to feed the little baby lamb and found the baby pen torn up! The dogs had been barking and upset at night, but the skunks had been active so they hadn’t let them out, assuming they wanted out to chase the skunks. Shiloh and Doobie really enjoy a good skunk chase, and usually end up getting sprayed right in the eyes, at least several times a summer. Since, we don’t care for it as much as them, The kids have gotten pretty good at ignoring their plea’s to run at night.
Unfortunately, however, occasionally they are upset about other things; like a predator clawing his way through a chain link fence to get at the baby goats. This is not the first time this has happened. I remember coming home late one night a couple years back to find a virtual crime scene of chicken murder. The chicken pen had been slit quite cleanly and dead birds littered the yard, most of them missing heads. I didn’t see anything in the yard, but could see the kids and Chanda quite happily moving about in the kitchen and front room, dogs sleeping by the big picture windows. When I came into the house and asked what had happened, everyone was completely amazed, they swear, they never heard a thing. I couldn’t believe it, with so many dead birds, that not one had made a sound. But I suppose they didn’t.
We were more fortunate this time. Although the animal made quite a mess of the door, for some reason it did not take any of the animals inside. I suppose they went deep into the pen, and the animal, whatever it was, did not want to venture in to get them. The kids think it was the Lion, but Chanda and I think it looks more like the strength of a bear. I think a lion would have just jumped over the door. A bear however likes to tear things up. The kids saw no tracks, and since nothing was lost, no harm, no foul.
The dogs do go out at night to help milk now, and everyone is being extra cautious after dark. It has yet to be back, but we still don’t let the dogs run…. no matter how much they complain. (skunks, make a long lasting impression, I still swear when he is wet, I still smell it on doobie)

Baby goat pen door
Perhaps it was a yetti. They call them skunk apes down here oddly enough which fits nicely in to your story. Next time the dogs are barking tell the boys they’re probably after the relocated florida skunk apes.
Hey, that last on was me… I guess I forgot to type my name in… sorry.
Glad the babies are safe & you had the warning! Gotta be careful if the bears are out!
Oh I am glad that he bear didn’t decide to come you your front door. I know some tasty morsels in there! Love you guys and miss you terribly.
